".....Chateau La Roche is the work of one man, Sire Harry Andrews, who started building the castle in 1929.  Most of the stones from which it was constructed were carried in buckets from the nearby river bed.  Mr. Andrews would on occasion let someone else do odd jobs such as mixing mortar, but he laid every stone himself.  Some bricks use in the building of the castle were made by pouring cement into used milk cartons and removing the cartons after the cement had hardened....

Over the years the group of people known as the "Knights of the Golden Trail" was formed to help Mr.  Andrews with the castle.  When Mr. Andrews died at age 90 in 1981, the castle was willed to the "Knight's of the Golden Trail".  The Knights are keeping Sire Harry's memory alive by taking care of the castle and putting the finishing touches on it.  They also make sure someone is there to guard the castle of all times.  The castle can be toured or rented for weddings, or perhaps a party. Each Halloween, it is made up to look like a haunted castle.

The Loveland Castle is a 1/5th scale of an actual 16th century medieval castle.  The castle built by Harry D Andrews, over a period of 51 years.  The Loveland Castle, also known as "Chateau La Roche" was built as an expression and reminder of the simple strength and rugged grandeur of the mighty men who lived when knighthood was in flower.  It was their knightly zeal for honor, valor and manly purity that lifted mankind out of the moral midnight of the dark ages, and started it towards a gray down of human hope.  You can enjoy a tour to hear of one man's dream and the fulfillment of the "Knights of the Golden Trail" in your visit.

".....  In 1927, Andrews purchase land along the little Miami River in Loveland, Ohio (near Cincinnati).  He intended to provide a place for a Sunday school class of young men to swim, fish and camp.  The boys slept in tents, but after a few summers, the tents had decayed.  He told the boys to gather stones from the river.  From these, he built two small rooms, which he called a "stone tent".  From this stone tent, Andrews formed the knights of the Golden Trail.  Based on the 10 commandments and principles of chivalrous knighthood, the purpose of this organization was to save modern civilization from degradation and degeneration, just as noble knights saved Europe from the dark ages.  Of course, the knights would need a castle to meet in.   Thus, on June 5, 1929, Chateau La Rouche, or "Rock Castle," was begun.  In 1930, the castle dedicated.
